The Road That Brought Us Here – 150 Miles, Nine Days And One Incredible Journey

From County Durham To Edinburgh, Walking For A Cause Close To Our Hearts

In July, we swapped our everyday routines for walking boots, determination and a challenge that would take us on a journey we'll never forget.

Together with my husband Neil and our dear friend Susan Yule, we set off on The Road That Brought Us Here, a 150-mile charity walk from The Bluebird Boutique in Stanhope, County Durham, all the way to Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh.

What started as an idea inspired by our shared love of country music soon became something far more meaningful. This wasn't simply about reaching our destination. It was about coming together, pushing ourselves beyond our comfort zones and raising awareness for causes that matter deeply to us.

Nine Days, 150 Miles And Countless Memories

Over nine unforgettable days, we experienced just about every emotion imaginable.

There were tired legs, aching feet and moments when putting one foot in front of the other felt like the biggest challenge in the world. But there was also laughter, friendship, encouragement and those special moments that reminded us exactly why we'd taken on this journey.

Every mile brought its own challenges, but every step had a purpose.

At the heart of The Road That Brought Us Here was our determination to raise money and awareness for charities supporting mental health and wellbeing, particularly those helping people who may be facing difficult times or struggling silently.

Mental health challenges aren't always visible, and sometimes the people who need support the most are the ones who find it hardest to ask for help. If our journey could help start conversations, raise awareness or make even a small difference to someone's life, then every aching muscle would be worth it.

More Than Just A Charity Walk

Reaching Murrayfield Stadium was an incredible milestone, but the real achievement was never simply about covering 150 miles.

It was about friendship, kindness, resilience and the generosity of everyone who supported us along the way.

To everyone who donated, shared our story, sent messages of encouragement or cheered us on, we'd like to say a heartfelt thank you.

Your support meant more than you could possibly know.

Our Journey May Be Over, But You Can Still Make A Difference

Although we've hung up our walking boots for now, the spirit behind The Road That Brought Us Here continues.

Our fundraising appeal remained open following the walk, giving more people the opportunity to support the causes that inspired us to take those first steps.

Every contribution, however big or small, can help make a difference.

From all of us at The Bluebird Boutique, thank you for being part of our story.

Because sometimes, the most important part of any journey isn't where you're going, but the difference you make along the way.
